When a young couple meets with us, the conversations can vary from a wide range of topics. Sometimes it stays on topic – their wedding day. But other times we get to talking about life and whatnot. Occasionally the topic of where to live will come up. As there are some couples who seek to move outside of Decatur, many choose to remain here and build their life here. But WHERE in Decatur should they live? And who should they go with to list their home? There are a number of realtors in town, but as with photography, we recommend going with someone with EXPERIENCE! Brinkoetter has been doing this (buying/selling homes) for around 50 years now. They know a thing or two! So, young couples, if you need a solid agent to find that perfect dream home, then we recommend you taking a look at a couple of sites: www.brinkoetter.com (the main site) www.decaturhometalk.com (Carla Brinkoetter’s blog – she’s the President!) There is also a very talented agent on staff there, named Lisa Vieweg. Years ago her last name used to be Wilkerson. (She's Jim's sister!) So hit up Brinkoetter and hit up Lisa! Happy home hunting! Know anyone getting married? Send them our way and know that their special day will be covered by a husband and wife team who truly care about what their clients want - not what the photographer wants! You'l be sending them to a team who has shot over 200 weddings in the last 13 years.
For us, it's not about photography awards or peer approval - it's all about the customer. What you want is done, every time. It's your special day, and we never forget that. Want photography? Want video? We do both. We have three different photography and video packages to fit any budget, including copyright-released photos on disc. We grew up using photographers who would charge for every little thing they did, every single pose, every single change....that's just not the way we believe in doing things. When you get a Wilkerson Studios wedding package you will get every photo we take. Why not? It's YOUR special day, not our's. And if you want us to make the prints, not a problem! We go through professional labs at reasonable rates. But if you want to print them yourself, you have that capability as well. We are not printers. We are photographers. So we don't overcharge for prints. You're paying us for our skill and our creativity and that's what you'll get. So if you know someone getting married, please send them our way. And share this post if you would, to help us get the word out. Thank you for your support! God Bless, Jim & Stephanie Wilkerson Wilkerson Studios It's always great to see people excited for their pictures or video. Yes, we do get paid for our work, but part of that payment is seeing people happy. Check out the Koch family in this video, as they get their new 20x30 canvas gallery wrap! The Venue While some of these trade places with each other depending on the occasion, these are the top things that most couples invest in for their wedding. Photography & Video can be more expensive than some people think. Depending who you go with, you'll find packages ranging from $500 to $3,000-$4,000K right here in Central Illinois! One of the things we have done to make things easier on couples, is to offer copyright-released CD/DVD's of your photos. This allows you to have your pictures printed wherever you want. Growing up, Stephanie and I never really liked how some photographers would charge for proofs, and only give you a certain number of poses. It just never seemed like a good way of doing business. So we cut right through that. When you book us for your wedding, you will get ALL of the photos we take. If you paid us to take them, then you should get them. That's our philosophy. This saves you more money than you think! Of course if you want, we can get prints made for you as well. But that's up to you. It's YOUR choice! Best Wishes & God Bless! Jim Wilkerson If you hire a photographer or videographer to capture your wedding day, then make it count.
The best way to do this is get yourself a wedding planner or close family friend who can help you throughout the day - keeping you and your wedding party on task and on time. In the end, it's your wedding. You can do what you want. But if you want more out of your photographer, then you need to have a good gameplan for the wedding day and stick to it. If you plan to start pictures at 2pm, then make sure you are ready for them at 1:45! We've had couples who have been 1-2 hours late at times. All this does is put you way behind schedule and in the end it will mean less coverage for you, and in a way, wasted money. We really don't like to see that happen. We want you to get what you paid for and we'll do everything we can to make sure that happens. But if you're an hour late, there's not much we can do to make that time up. The wedding day goes fast, so make sure to have a plan and stick to it as much as possible. You'll thank yourself later. We will be back at Allerton Park in Monticello this Saturday to shoot a wedding. Allerton Park is such a beautiful spot for a wedding. So many options for a photographer/videographer. We always look forward to shooting there (as long as the weather is good).
So pray for good weather! :) Hey friends! Would you be willing to write a review of our business, and tell the folks from Thumbtack what we were like to work with, and the quality of our work? If so, we would be forever grateful!
Thank you! All you have to do is click the link below that says "Wilkerson Studios" I spend a lot of time talking about how important video is for a wedding. Although pictures still trump it, a wedding video is quickly becoming a big desire for most new couples. They are starting to see the value. If I had a dollar for every older couple who tells me "man, I wish we would have gotten a wedding video done," I surely would be a rich man. There's just something about being able to SEE & HEAR your family....to hear the toasts and not just have a picture of them holding a glass up...to see the tears come down the check, and not just see a frozen tear in time. This little video clip is a good example of that. Check it out...and think twice if you are considering NOT doing a wedding video. You just might regret it later. Here's the video: Daddy's Girl from Wilkerson Studios on Vimeo. Today we got a call from a past customer, Alex. We did his wedding photography and video a couple of years ago. Alex and his wife were so happy with what we did that they referred us to one of their family members who is getting married this summer.
That family member cannot afford the services, and guess what? Alex liked our work so much that he decided to cover their photography as a wedding gift! What a nice gift, and what a nice thing to know that people like our work so much that they are willing to do that! Welcome to the new Wilkerson Studios website!
We are looking forward to some warmer weather and some spring and summer weddings! Busy season, here we come! If you wouldn't mind, please share our website with others, and like our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/wilkersonstudios Thanks for your support! - The Wilkersons |
